The South African Association for Energy Economics (SAAEE) in partnership with the International Association for Energy Economics hosted a breakfast event at the Fire and Ice Hotel in Pretoria on the 21st of August 2023.
We had invited speakers from five countries across three continents – Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa, Norway and Pakistan to give insight into the energy landscape in each of these countries and the key policy and regulatory issues they are facing.
This was followed by a panel discussion to explore what the transition to a more sustainable energy future meant in these very different socio-economic contexts, the types of challenges that have arisen and what progress is being made. This discussion was facilitated by Muhammed Patel, Senior Economist at Trade and Industrial Policy Strategies (TIPS).
The presentations of the 5 speakers can be found here.
